Greetings in the matchless name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I got married last October ( 2007 ) to a wonderful person named Frank. I felt the hand of God in every wedding arrangement that we made.
Unfortunately things began to sour in the mid of December. My mother in law was too interfering and I respected her but spoke to her a bit less. We were staying in North India as my husband is an army officer. My unmarried sister in law is very dominating and dominates the house.In the year 2008 I used to speak to my mother in law only as my father in law refused to speak to me....saying he will speak to me only when his son is happy.When I asked my husband he says.." keep my parents happy". I am really at loss. We have not consummated our marriage.

In the month of April my husband dropped me back at my brother's home saying that he doesnot have anything to give to our relationship. He is in Amritsar but has not told me though I get to speak to him every alternate day. My husband and my in laws want a divorce but brother I am not ready for it. Please pray that God will make a way and will reunite us.Please pray that the Lord will bring my husband closer to Him and will raise a God fearing person to speak to my husband.

Kezia, really sorry about the hardships you are suffering in your marriage. India, I read, can be really hard on a marriage because the customs allow in-laws to have a lot of say in the marriage of young couples. Some would rather end their marriage rather than disappoint their family. This is very unfortunate because the word of God doesn't teach this. The Bible says to let no man separate what God has brought together, and that a man is to leave his mother and father and be united to his wife(Matt.19:5,6). In God's eyes a married couple has a very special place in his eyes, and their relationship is sacred to him and, therefore, must come before every other relationship(including parents and children). But, as we know, not everybody follows the word of God. That's why it is important that all Christians only marry other christians; if not, then there will arise issues- like the one you are going through- that will cause a lot of problems that will be difficult to resolve because the Word of God won't be the guide-book for their marriage. But no need to worry. There's nothing too hard for God.

In the situation you are in, you are going to have buckle down and seek God like never before. His presence must dominate your life, and his word must dominate your mind. This will give you peace and strengthen your faith. And as you continue to draw closer to God, he will be reuniting you and your husband back together again, since this is your desire. In the Bible, God does allow christians be divorced if the unbelieving husband/wife abandons them(1Cor.7:15). But since you want to be reunited with your husband, God will do so. However, it's going take patience. Sometimes God has to work on a person's heart to draw them back. This takes time. Just stay close to the Lord; be sure to fellowship with other believers and pray with them often. All will be well in time.

Father, we speak a spirit of restoration to this marriage. We bind every evil influence coming against this union, from every evil spirit to every negative in-law. Close every door to Satan in this marriage. Let no weapon formed against them prosper. And give our sister Kezia the strength to hold on and just trust in you as you work on her husband. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
