Dear Brother:
My heart goes out to you. These things hurt very deeply. God knows all of us are sinners and self- centered by nature and does all He can to draw our heart toward Him so that we can can be happy and love each other with His love, but we often fail. We are all powerless over sin without the power of the Spirit to help us overcome. We can not have that power unless we desire it more than we desire to have pleasure. That is only something God can do- but we can pray for it for others, and ourselves.
We can not chose many of the things that happen to us, but we can choose our reaction. God loves You and sees everything you are suffering. He suffers to when one of His children turns away to gratify the flesh. Many people, including the one who has been lured away suffers greatly.
I will pray for her, and for the man she is being enticed by and for you.
" Lord, I ask you to come into this situation and convict, comfort and reveal your Truth in each person 's life. You know exactly what each person needs, and what the motivations behind their actions are.
Comfort this grieving husband who is shocked, stunned, angered. You alone know all that he is feeling and thinking . I pray that Your Spirit is alive in him , drawing him closer to You than ever before. I pray he is able to be open before you , freely expressing all of his emotions- as they are, and as they come. You alone can handle all the rage, sadness, and confusion that this kind of sin brings.
You know what being betrayed feels like. You know what is it like to have one that was intimate with You turn away and betray you, unto death.
Give this man clear correct thinking, and ways to manage his emotions that are in turmoil.
Give Him a grasp of Your love that is deeper and sweeter than he has ever known.
I pray for his wife that her heart be convicted by her betrayal, and she be saddened and sickened by what her desires have lead her to do and be. I pray that she repents, and returns to her first love, You, and her husband she made a vow to.
I ask you to give the man she is involved with, a sense of what he is doing and how wrong it is. I pray the weight of what he is doing be felt as a burden , a deep pain inside his soul that nothing but turning to You and turning away from this illicit love affair relieves.
You rules are laws are to be taken seriously because You love people and want to stop the suffering our flesh given into its own desires creates.
Nothing can undo the serious consequences of these kind of deep betrayals, but Your mercy is great.
Give this husband the kind of love for his wife that Hosea had- the kind that loves unconditionally. Help him be strong in You- to trust You through this time, to get his sense of self- worth, self of man hood from being the kind of man that pleases you- no matter what his wife chooses to do.
You alone will see the kind of man he is- and reward him according to His relationship with You.
Give him hope and joy inside his spirit, though his emotions may be in deep anguish.
Give him wisdom and guidance that comes from his searching Your word for those words that only You can illuminate for him to be the words he clings to and are promises from You to him personally uniquely and meant just for him.
I lift this matter to you. Thank you for hearing us, your children who trust in You and are dependent upon You for all things. We need You to handle life. Life is often painful and feel of deep wounds and seemingly unbearable moments, but You have promises to take all these things and turn them into blessings in some fashion. This is not a magical moment, but often a slow and painful process as You teach us Your way through these trials. Give this man patience as your work in his life to turn this around for good, in your time, your Way.
